I call B.S. I don't think even a 50 cal. Shell would be heavy enough to set a primer off.

If there is enough force to ignite the primer...maybe, but gasses will expand making the bullet go one way and the casing the opposite way(Newton's Third Law) with equal force, so they pretty much cancel the effectiveness of the ammo...sure you can get hurt if it hits your eyes, very unlikely to cause much more damage than that. Now I question the force of the case ricocheting off a wall and setting off a live ammo though, Force is dissipated by the slide, extractor, the wall...I've had casings fall on my head after being ejected, I'm sure we have all had them before and I don't think they had enough force to do this.
