CETME 7.62 Rifles
Does anyone here have experience with this platform? I recently bought one from Atlantic Firearms and had it out to the range. Ran 40 rounds of Federal FMJ through it and was impressed. The rifle operated perfectly, with no misfeeds or jams. Recoil seemed light too, for a 7.62x51 battle rifle. It came with a nice thick rubber buttpad, muzzle brake & also apparently has a buffer system built into the stock. Receiver & barrel are new by PTR with remaining components being new/old surplus by CETME.
Shooting at 50 yards using open iron sights I managed about a 3 1/2" group...pretty good for a rifle I've no prior experience with. GI surplus parts & mags are abundant and cheap $$ too which is good. |

Does the CETME have the fluted chamber like it's offspring, the HK 91/G3?
That makes it hell on the brass for reloading. I shot a Bundeswehr HK-G3 when I was stationed in Germany. It was all right, but I prefer the M14 and FAL to the HK system. However; a fellow should have at least one of each.

Yep it has the fluted chamber just like the kraut G3. I know they chew up brass but I don't plan on reloading for this caliber. I got it for $599 + $20 shipping, that's way under what the M14 clones & FAL's sell for these days. I think it's a pretty cool little shooter for the money so far.

Those flutes are not that bad on the cases. Not having a port buffer it will bend the brass worse.

Now that you mention it I have 5 or 6 empty cases I saved & after a little polishing with a cloth they look good. There aren't any real dings on the cases & the flute marks on the neck don't appear to be that deep.

Nice looking shooters, Boon.
I liked the retro Spanish walnut furniture the CETME's came with back in the 60's so that's what I went with. I'm probably going to get a set of the later green plastic stocks that were adopted as well. The G3 stock has a much larger spring buffer system that should make it feel like a .22. |

I wanted a set of wood for the 91 for a very long time. Then when it started to appear @ gun shows I just never went that route. Get yourself a port buffer!

That's a fine looking CETME.
Price was reasonable for today, too. |

The triggers on those suck. I send all my H&K rifle trigger assy's to a smith in Colorado...it's been a couple years...so his name isin't coming to mind. Crisp 4.5 trigger pull that breaks like a glass rod. I have an H&K 91 para model that I purchased new back in the 1970's. It is a factory semigloss gray color. I had a fellow try and tell me it was an incorrect color refinish because the WORLD all knows they are black. I have the box it came in. The original signed H&K test fire target and the owners manual.
Nope. NOT for sale.

As much as I like the Fostech Gen II trigger I wonder how Franklin H&K binary trigger is? |
