I'm in need of a new computer......
I'm looking for recommendations.
I don't 'game' but, I would like to watch videos without having to wait for buffering and for some sites to load. I currently have a HP Pavilion p2 Series with Windows 7 OS with Comcast Cable Internet. I would also like a Printer, Scanner, Copier for sh*t I may need to print. I also don't want/need a top of the line computer. What would you recommend? Thanks. |

I got one from Cybertron. It is a gaming computer, but I don't play games on it.
Gamers need high performance and lots of cooling on their machines. Because I don't have air conditioning, it gets pretty warm in my house in the summer time. Therefore, I wanted a machine that could keep a little cooler. Besides, it also has some pretty cool lighting effects.

Build your own. Not necessarily cheaper, but you can get what you want and not what they want to give you...

I've done that for years. You can customize it the way you want it.

Where would be a good place to start if a person wanted to explore that option?

Exactly. See what they have to offer, then check Amazon and Ebay for better prices. I check Newegg first, as Tigerdirect caters to business customers, also. I just rebuilt a computer, found a new motherboard, processor and memory on Newegg, then sourced most parts from other sources. I used my old drives, though and case, though. Brian |

I buy most of my assembly/replacement parts from Newegg. If I need something quick such as ram or a power supply I buy at the local Bestbuy.

I have bought about 10 pcs Over the last 5 years for the shop.
I watch amazon and eBay. We have mostly hP but have a couple Lenovo PCs that I like allot. Bit of them were refurbs. I get the 3.0 or higher processors and then upgrade the RAM to at least 12-16megs and all now run the SSD for faster indexing. Being you will be streaming I would look for a good dedicated graphics card either included or upgrade to it. That helps allot for the video editing and other graphics I do

You could start with a cheap processor like this one: https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=100007...69%20601321069
It can only get worse from there! Brian |
