Well......... to my taste they aren't. At least I'll say many other species are more fitting to my palate. If I am up in cold country, smallmouth bass are fairly tasty.
But those big old hawg largemouth bass around here aren't fit to eat in my opinion. I'd just as soon catch carp. I do like northern pike. I prefer it's flavor to walleye. I can deal with the bones because I like the taste of the fish. Whitefish out of Lake Superior is excellent eating as well.

We used to fish for Flounder and Red fish using a bass boat casting up to the shoreline with lures on the flats of bayous (flats were on a bend) in brackish water.
I never ate a bad tasting bass and I've never ate a good tasting carp ... Carp |
