Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

It's the grip safety. It is part of the design. It's one of those things you'd never notice when shooting the pistol. Some folks like to pin them, but I've never found it necessary.

After untold thousands of rounds through my Springfield Loaded 1911A1 (vintage 2000), I can honestly say it has never caused me a misfire.

That said, my everyday carry is a Springfield XD45. Primarily due to less weight, more rounds at hand, and the grip is similar to the 1911, which I am very familiar with. It also has a grip safety like a 1911 - which is nice for the striker-fired pistol. All the Glock has is that trigger safety. The XD series has the trigger and the grip safety, and can also be ordered with a slide-mounted safety as an option.

I stayed with the higher capacity after a situation I encountered at a rest area that involved a couple van loads of wetbacks and I was the only other person there. Even fully loaded, it is also still lighter than my 1911 with 8+1. With 14 rounds in the pistol and 2 x 13 round mags, I had 40 rounds on me. Enough to get me back to my pickup where I had something a little more effective riding behind the seat. I'm convinced things didn't go sideways only because I know their language and responded to their threats of "let's rob the Gringo" with a predator's look and movement toward cover. I didn't have to draw, but my hand was ready if I did have to.

They do, but I've never heard of one breaking, either.

They still charge too much for their base guns. I'd say a fair price point would be right around Springfield's for similar models, but plenty of folks figure their prices are just fine.

Kimber does make a fine product, but it is no better than other similar pistols that cost a few hundred $$ less.

Properly manufactured MIM parts are every bit as good as milled steel. Ruger was the first and have made great handguns using that process for years. Now many gun manufacturers are using that process. I wouldn't worry about it in a gun from a high quality firearm manufacturer.

Of my two carry pieces, I far prefer the Ruger SR1911CMD over the Kimber.

Maybe because the Ruger is steel, whereas the Kimber has an alloy frame (and only a 3" barrel).

The internet experts disagree.

I picked up on a US Property Remington, last weekend from a buddy who is in hard times. Pretty.. "as issued"... except for custom sights.

That's funny, right there.

I have a Citadel full size and a Springfield Range Officer 1911A1. I love both guns and alternate between them. The Citadel is made by Armscor, as is RIA and the only issue I have with it is that the extended ambi safety is sharp enough to tear holes in my shirts. I'm either going to do away with the ambi safety or bob it. I haven't decided, yet. Aside from that, the gun is flawless and I only paid $450 for it.

The Springfield is mil-spec with a shorter bushingless barrel. Fantastic gun and handy. Great fit and finish and I love the way it balances.

Ruger offers a lightweight 1911 that is nice when carrying, has all the modern features and is good quality at under $800.
