Read that Kimber uses MIM parts in there guns! For what they charge for their guns that's a bitch slap!

Even fully loaded, it is also still lighter than my 1911 with 8+1. With 14 rounds in the pistol and 2 x 13 round mags, I had 40 rounds on me. Enough to get me back to my pickup where I had something a little more effective riding behind the seat. I'm convinced things didn't go sideways only because I know their language and responded to their threats of "let's rob the Gringo" with a predator's look and movement toward cover. I didn't have to draw, but my hand was ready if I did have to.

They still charge too much for their base guns. I'd say a fair price point would be right around Springfield's for similar models, but plenty of folks figure their prices are just fine. Kimber does make a fine product, but it is no better than other similar pistols that cost a few hundred $$ less. |

Properly manufactured MIM parts are every bit as good as milled steel. Ruger was the first and have made great handguns using that process for years. Now many gun manufacturers are using that process. I wouldn't worry about it in a gun from a high quality firearm manufacturer.

Of my two carry pieces, I far prefer the Ruger SR1911CMD over the Kimber.
Maybe because the Ruger is steel, whereas the Kimber has an alloy frame (and only a 3" barrel).

I took my Kimber Micro 9 completely apart trying to get rid of that frigging series 80 safety. Now now its in a bowl with me trying to figure out how to well you know put the mother frigging thing back together.
 Holy sheeeet they ain't nuttin like the standard .45s. I can't find a damn schematic to see all the damn dad blasted small parts. Grrrrrrrrrrrre.
