I'm not quite understanding what is going on with your Security Six.

Are you saying you can turn the cylinder freely when the hammer isn't cocked?

Or, is it that (as looked at from behind) the cylinder turns counter-clockwise when cocked vs. clockwise for a single action revolver?

If it is the second, then all Ruger double actions rotate counter clockwise, while all single actions rotate clockwise (unless some modifications have been made, as you mention above).

If it is a free turning cylinder, then it sounds like something is broken.
