My Mom's Brother, James, gave me the K Bar he used as a Marine in the Pacific during WWII...a couple weeks before I left for the RVN. I carried it most of the time there. It has the original finish and leather sheath. It does not look "new." Much better than a fucking bayonet. With a good knife, Vilchek pliers and a pair of Craftsman side cutters...I was able to access ammo, rats, "cook," and survive. Ever try to get into Military grade packaging of bulk small arms ammo...C rations, etc. ... without "tools?" Ever try and warm your C rats up in the middle of tigerland without pliers?
