Interesting story.

My uncle still alive was given a bronze star for an action that took place in the Huertgen Forrest Germany.

The award came with a type writer written citation with misspelled words, mistakes typed over, the work of an Army clerk explaining in detail what he did, I've read it myself.

I'll bet if you look around you'll find a written citation for the bronze star.

Getting a silver star during WWII would for sure of had a written citation with it.

My uncle didn't receive the bronze star and several lesser metals until eleven years after the war.

He received a letter stating records show we owe you a bronze star, it's in the mail.
