R.I.P SFC Rew Williams!

As they say in some parts of the Country, Rew was indeed;
" A man to ride the river with."

Though we never met in person, he became a good and close friend of myself and my wife. Especially during my own bout with Cancer. His phone calls did a lot to help Maryann and I through some very rough spots.

Rew was seriously Ill for about 3 years, he reached the point 2 years ago where he could only take in ice cream and liquids. A couple of times the docs opened up his esophagus so he could swallow some 'real food' but things always closed up again.

He never called it Cancer, though it clearly was,
He never mentioned it at all unless you asked him outright.

I was delaying calling him, as it grew more obvious that it was progressively more difficult for him to speak. I should have called him anyhow!

Rew was one of the best of the straight shooting, no , just get the job done men I've ever known.

From now on, the old toast "To Absent Friends" will of course include him.

So Long Rew, pleasure and an honor! to know you!

And of course my sincere sympathy and condolences to his Wife , his Daughters and his other Family and friends!

We'll probably end up in the same place, then we'll find a Hooters and have those beers we planned on!

Until then my friend, go with God!

Regards,
...
