Caught a dang skunk

A skunk has been walking up to our front door almost nightly.

I put a trap out with donuts in it (so as not to attract cats) on our property as far from the house as I could get. I caught him. The nosy neighbor saw it. Bad concealment on my part? Nope. The trap was in scrub oak and not visible from the neighbor's property. He is just nosy and patrols...

It is not legal to shoot in the area, and local laws require traps to be checked and empties every couple of days. So I had to call a skunk removal expert to come get the skunk. I am inside and I can smell that the guy just got sprayed.

He earns his money.

You should have just ran up real fast and grab the trap and throw it in the back seat of your car. They will quiet down when you are driving.

You could have saved a few bucks.

Throw them in a tub of water

Keeps them from spraying

The Havahart traps keeps the tails down, tie a line to the trap and put the entire thing in a barrel of water or in the river. Skunk drowns, then let it out.

Don't you have an air gun?

For real the best way is to slowly walk up holding an old blanket between you and the skunk in the cage then throw the blanket over the cage.

Then you can take it to wherever you are going to release it - preferably in the back of a truck. :L Then you can release the trap with the blanket still over the cage and walk away. After the skunk walks away retrieve your cage. The blanket won't be of much use anymore.

I did that for my sister in law many years ago.

The neighbor across the road caught a skunk in a cage. He shot it with a .22.

It was early in the morning. I heard a gun shot and then a couple of minutes later the powerful scent of skunk drifted in the windows. The neighbors house smelled like skunk for several weeks.

How about in the front seat of a convertible Porsche with the roof down in a parking lot?

.

It is unlawful to shoot here.

I have been skunked before and it was worth $125 to not get skunked again.

They wouldn't notice.

Best way to catch a skunk or git rid of one is to call a PETA liberal animal lover to relocate it to a "safe zone"
